The Grade 12 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) rubric is designed to assess students’ critical thinking; analytical skills; and ability to reflect on the nature of knowledge across disciplines. It evaluates their capacity to engage with complex questions about how knowledge is constructed; validated; and applied in real-world contexts. The rubric emphasizes clarity; depth of analysis; and coherence in written and oral presentations; ensuring students demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of TOK concepts. Students are assessed on their ability to identify and explore knowledge questions; linking them to areas of knowledge and ways of knowing. The rubric encourages them to examine biases; assumptions; and perspectives; fostering intellectual humility and open-mindedness. By evaluating arguments for logical consistency and evidence-based reasoning; the rubric helps students develop stronger analytical and evaluative skills. Another key focus is the application of TOK principles to real-life situations; enabling students to see the relevance of theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
