The Grade 10 Government rubric is designed to assess students’ understanding of key concepts in civics and political systems. It evaluates their ability to analyze government structures; interpret foundational documents; and apply civic knowledge to real-world scenarios. The rubric measures performance across four key areas: content knowledge; critical thinking; communication skills; and civic engagement. In the content knowledge category; students demonstrate their grasp of constitutional principles; branches of government; and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. The critical thinking section assesses their capacity to evaluate political processes; compare different government systems; and analyze the impact of policies. Strong performance in this area shows students can form evidence-based conclusions about governance. The communication skills component evaluates how effectively students express ideas through written and oral presentations. This includes constructing clear arguments; using appropriate terminology; and citing relevant sources. The civic engagement dimension measures students’ ability to connect classroom learning to community involvement; such as proposing solutions to local issues or participating in democratic processes.
