Grade 1 Measurement Rubric Description This rubric is designed to assess first-grade students’ understanding and application of basic measurement concepts. It evaluates their ability to compare; order; and measure objects using non-standard and standard units; as well as their capacity to describe measurable attributes such as length; weight; and capacity. The rubric provides clear criteria for teachers to gauge student progress while offering students structured feedback to support their learning. The rubric assesses three key areas: understanding measurable attributes; using appropriate tools and units; and applying measurement skills in real-world contexts. In the first category; students demonstrate their ability to identify and describe length; weight; and volume. The second category evaluates their proficiency in selecting and using measurement tools like rulers; scales; and containers; as well as their ability to compare objects using terms like longer; shorter; heavier; and lighter. The third category measures their capacity to solve simple measurement problems; such as determining which object holds more or estimating lengths.
