This Grade 9 World History (African) rubric is designed to assess students’ understanding of key historical events; figures; and cultural developments across the African continent. The rubric evaluates students on their ability to analyze primary and secondary sources; demonstrate knowledge of significant historical periods; and articulate connections between African history and global contexts. By using this rubric; educators can provide clear expectations for student performance while fostering critical thinking and historical inquiry skills. The rubric assesses content knowledge; ensuring students can identify and explain major events such as the rise of ancient civilizations; trans-Saharan trade; colonialism; and independence movements. It also measures students’ ability to contextualize these events within broader historical narratives.
